Learn These 3 Effective Ways to Dispose of Yard Waste

Every year, Americans create a lot of yard waste. Most of it goes to landfills. Yard waste is overgrowing in the United States. Even though it may be tempting just to put your leaves and branches in the trash, it is important to know how to get rid of them correctly. Otherwise, you could end up violating local regulations or causing environmental damage.

In Johnson County, Kansas, the Solid Waste Management Plan requires that yard waste be disposed of at a designated facility. These regulations help to protect the environment and keep our community clean. While it may seem like a hassle to follow these guidelines, it is important to do so. Learn 3 ways to dispose of your yard waste properly. Let’s get started.

Design a Waste Plan

If you have a lot of leaves and yard waste to dispose of, making a waste plan is a great way to go. Decide what you want to do with your leaves and yard waste before you dispose of them. Do you want to compost them, burn them, or hire junk removal services?

If you’re unsure what to do with them, ask your local waste management company for suggestions. Once you’ve decided what to do with the leaves and yard waste, stick to your plan.

Figure Out a Way to Repurpose

Have you ever seen leaves so dense on a lawn that it looks like a brown ocean? And thought to yourself: what a waste! Leaves are actually a great resource for your yard and garden. By finding ways to use them again, you can keep them from being wasted:

  • Mulch: To make great mulch for your garden beds, run over leaves with a lawn mower to chop them up, then spread them around your plants. They’ll help insulate the roots and keep weeds down.
  • Compost: Leaves are important for compost. They help to make the nitrogen levels balanced and add important nutrients.
  • Fertilizer: If you’re not into composting, you can let your leaves decompose on their own. After they do, leaves make an excellent fertilizer for your lawn and garden. Spread them around, and nature will take care of the rest.

Contact a Junk Removal Company

Contacting a junk removal company is a great way to dispose of your leaves and yard waste. A company will come and pick up your leaves and yard waste and dispose of them. Junk removal services are great for those who do not have the time or energy to dispose of their own leaves and yard waste.
